Gary Kalin of Atlanta, kneels in prayer next to an artist's rendition of
the Ten Commandments during a rally outside the historic Capitol in
Montgomery, Ala., Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003. Police would not estimate the
size of the crowd, which appeared to be several thousand people, possibly
as many as 10-thousand that attended the rally to support Alabama Chief
Justice Roy Moore who is refusing a federal court order to remove his Ten
Commandments monument from the nearby State Judicial Building. (AP

As
I mentioned in my Pentecost newsletter (2003-09), here in Alabama Chief
Justice Roy Moore is fighting a valiant battle against the federal
establishment to keep a monument of the 10 Commandments he had
commissioned and placed in the Alabama Supreme Court rotunda.
The
battle continues as the federal judges, lawyers, and the media, trumpet their
idea rooted in the so-called separation of church and state concept,
that the display of the Ten Commandments is
an unconstitutional establishment of religion in a government building.
On July 1, the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals also ruled
against Chief Justice Moore, saying displays on government property
cannot promote or be affiliated with a religion.
Judge Thompson gave the state until Aug. 20 to remove the
monument, threatening $5,000 a day in fines if Chief Justice Moore did
not comply. The situation
is not unique to Alabama, all across the country there is a movement to
remove any reference to the founding – GOD centered – principles of
our country from public places. ( Log on: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/usatoday/20030814/cm_usatoday/11589548
)
Somewhere in our so-called maturing society it was decided that any reference to GOD, or our CREATOR is
promoting a religion. But
is a simple belief in the intelligent design of the universe –
creation vs. evolution – and a CREATOR, a religion?
I
have met many people who,
because of the countless bad examples throughout history, dislike and
are suspicious of institutional religion.
They would say they could see GOD in their garden more then in a
building. Would they be
called religious? Usually a
person is not considered religious, if one has a personal belief in GOD
and just lives by the “Golden Rule” in their daily life as best they
can, but never goes to church. Does
a child who obeys their parents’ moral teachings mean that the child
is religious? Technically
speaking, the Bible by itself describes a code of life, it talks of
“pure religion” only once in James 1:19-27. How many so-called religious people do you know live the pure
religious life like the late Mother Teresa?
Here
is another thought, the custom of marriage can only be traced to GOD
(Gen.2:18-25), does that mean all married people are religious? I
don't think so.
Today the
dictionary will call anything
relating to a moral code or GOD a “religion” like it’s some
catchall phrase designed more by government bureaucrats - but what is
the code or the principle itself called?
In reality, it is more of a philosophy then a religion.
The 10 Commandments are GODLY principles of living.
For example the 4th commandment says to rest on the
Sabbath. Is a person who
takes one day off a week from work considered religious?
No, not really. The
Jewish religion sets forth dictates on what to do, or not to do, on your
day of rest. Only then, do
the GODLY principles (or GODLY philosophy) become a religious
observance. The 6th
commandment says do not murder. Is someone who has never murdered
anybody considered religious? No.
It is important to note that our CREATOR did not begin a
religion; HE deals with humanity via a Covenant relationship.

)
If
Judge Roy Moore had erected a monument to the fundamentals of the Southern
Baptist faith, then he would be promoting a religion. And that would be a no-no.
If Judge Roy Moore set forth that everyone must subscribe to the
Southern Baptist faith then that would be a government enforced
religion. And that would be
a no-no.
What
today’s federal judges and politicians do not understand, but our founding
fathers clearly understood, is that if the a-l-l people – including
the atheists - do not receive their human rights from GOD then they must
be granted their rights from King George.
We have been there and done that, and it never worked, because
what the king grants the king can take away. (Log on: http://www.constitutional.net/qff.html
)
Our
so-called maturing society is actually taking a giant step backwards.
And the underlining reason is that the so-called learned
establishment is at war with GOD. It is not only the Commandments that are under attack, but it
is everything that comes from our CREATOR, marriage, the day of rest,
prayer, Jerusalem, the Hebrews, the Sacred Names, human freedoms, etc.
In my humble opinion, it is so obvious a blind man could see it.
I have always wondered, our founders set forth principles so
advanced that we still to this day struggle to live up to.
Instead of trying to tear them down why is it we cannot make them
better if we are a so-called advancing society. (Log on: http://www.constitutional.net/JudgeRoyMoore/

Remember
the good Judge Roy Moore in your prayers, and remember to pray for the
peace of Jerusalem... Ps.122.
- Take
care. Peace and
blessings, Errol.
