It's a great time to be a Bible Believer!

The very frustrating and maddening problem with archaeology and the Bible is that more often then not, discoveries are suppressed, hidden or destroyed, rather then have them see the light of day and corroborate the Bible stories.

There is some nervous hand-ringing going on around the tables of the Bible critics, as archaeology is doing more to prove the Bible, then disprove it.  Helping to bring these discoveries to the world are the scholars at BAR.

  Other books relating to the Bible:  Sometimes I receive mail asking, "...why do you quote from non-canonical books like Lost Books of Eden or the Apochrypha like Maccabees?   It is my understanding that these books were not to be accepted as basis for doctrine or faith."  

In my humble opinion: The Bible references other books if the reader wants more information, Numbers 21:14 references the book of the Wars of the LORD; Joshua 10:13 references the book of Jasher; 1Chronicles 29:29 references the books of Samuel the Seer, Nathan the Prophet, and Gad the Seer.  These are but some of the books referenced in the Bible that have been lost in time.  My qualifier would be that they must reveal more information that compliments GOD'S existing plan, not changes it. For example: On my Judgment Day  web page, I use one of my favorites from the the Shepard of Hermas.  It is a nice parable of the final Judgment (the Books of Hermas, in the Lost Books of the Bible section, pg 240 'Similitude VIII').   The newer discoveries such as the Gnostic Gospels, or the latest DaVinci Code / Judas thing, I do not consider because they change the original story, they do not add to it.

I can't help but wonder... With all this talk today regarding holocaust museums, and knowing the history of the grizzly persecutions against those non-violent soldiers, armed only with the Scriptures, who obeyed their calling and risked horrible deaths to make the forbidden Holy Scriptures accessible - whether it was translating, distributing, or teaching - and is still continuing today; I can't help but wonder..., where is the Christian Martyr Museum?
