- Our CREATOR longs for the
day
- when HIS church is a blessing,
-
rather then constantly searching for a blessing,
- and blessing our
CREATOR begins at home.
- (Gen.14:19-20; Act.20:35;
Eph.1:3)
..
- ...
- "Wouldn’t
it be wonderful
- if we could
forget our troubles
- as quickly
as we forget our blessings?"
It is a sad fact, that many in today's ruling brain trust would
ague, if everyone went around blessing each other, and using the leaves
of trees for healing (Rev.22:2), that would be chaos! Thankfully, it is not our
CREATOR'S idea of cultural improvement.
Bestowing the Blessing
is a universal Rite, and is
a powerful spiritual power-tool to invoke Divine benefits. Even a
child can bless you. It is a very important spiritual function generally forgotten
amongst today’s Believers. The
purpose of a blessing is to confer abundant and effective Heavenly life
upon someone or something. It
is important because as Children of the Covenant we are blessed by a
rich spiritual inheritance provided for by our CREATOR
in the Noahic and Abrahamic Covenant. As the Believers are blessed, so should the Believers share
their Heavenly blessings with friends, loved ones and even enemies,
(1Pet.3:8-9). (The dove is a sign of our CREATOR'S universal
blessing since the time of Noah.)
The Rite of bestowing a blessing is something Satan does not want
the Believers to know about, because he sees the Covenant Children as
the greatest threat to his plans. A
Believer inherits powerful spiritual gifts through the blessings of the
Covenant and is encouraged to pass along the blessing. It gives us our place in the universe.
Bestowing a blessing means you acknowledge a higher order to the
universe, and it is the foundation of your spiritual character
development.
It is easy to do! Many
people will bestow a blessing of health when somebody nearby sneezes,
even if it is a stranger.
- “I will bless the LORD
at all times…”

Psalms 34:1
Begin with a blessing for your CREATOR!
Our CREATOR longs for the
day when HIS priesthood will be a
blessing instead of constantly searching for a blessing (Gen.14:19-20;
Act.20:35; Eph.1:3). Many
in today’s churches show up once a week, put money in the plate, and
wait to receive their blessings, then they figure they are safe for the
week. This is not YAHWEH’S
idea of spreading HIS blessing
through the world - HIS people are
the blessing!
Do something nice for a clergyman, invite him to dinner and
bless
him for a change! Mostly, the laity has forgotten the art of
bestowing blessings, because in the pagan world it was a service
provided only by the local priest because it was a good revenue
generator, this habit carried over into many churches through the ages.
The religionists fear: If the people could do it themselves, then
why pay a priest?
In times past, some high priests would deliver a special blessing
with spooky mysticism, supported by a superstition rich lore of amulets,
charms, talismans and incantations, said to be the keys to universal
power. But today we are in
the Age of Grace and spiritual communications in YAHWEH’S
Universe is much simpler for the righteous Believers. Our Messiah has opened up the channels, and speaking a blessing
is a great spiritual power-tool against evil; one all Believers,
rich-or-poor, man-or-woman, can and should use.
Once bestowed, a blessing is irrevocable, and no one can take a
blessing from you if you have enough respect to keep it (Rom.11:29).
And failing to pass along the blessings of YAHWEH
only helps the dark side in foiling HIS
plan for them.
Blessings are not silent or quiet prayers, they are a public
proclamation, always spoken boldly with authority and confidence. They are the fast track to
YAHWEH’S
attention. The fact is,
that everything that humanity ever received from our CREATOR
begins with HIS spoken blessing. YAHWEH’S first act after
creating Adam and Eve was to speak a blessing over them (Gen.5:2).
The record is endless throughout the Bible of blessings spoken
over the Covenant Children. HE
blessed Noah and his sons after the flood (Gen.9:1). HE blessed Abraham
(Gen.12:1-3), Jacob (Gen.32:24-32), King David (2Sam.7:29) and so on.
Yahshuas’ birth was YAHWEH’S
blessing fulfilled! He
began His ministry through the announcement of a blessing. His most popular teachings - the Beatitudes - are a series of
blessings accompanied by rewards (Mat.5:3-11). He blessed children that He met (Mar.10:16), and His last act was
to speak a blessing over His followers (Luk.24:50-51). His followers are called on to continue the art of blessing
(1Pet.3:8-9).
To receive a blessing is valuable, and sometimes if you have been
faithful and really think you deserve one, then you have to be a little
pushy, you might even have to wrestle an Angel to get one (Gen.32:26).
In home Worship, to give a blessing is simple, and there are no
strict rules - outside Judaism that is. As always, what is most important is the purity of the heart.
A formal blessing is usually transmitted from the greater to the
lesser, or the elder to the younger (Heb.7:7).
General blessings can be performed by simply speaking it over
ourselves immediately when an emergency situation arises, or special
blessings can be incorporated into a planned unique ceremony with a meal
first. Blessing more then
one person is as simple as raising your hands, facing the people, and
then repeating it (a popular one is in Num.6:24-26); or individually by
the laying on of hands, and/or in combination with the other spiritual
power-tools listed.
In the pagan world, people have superstitions to give them the
illusion that they can ward off disaster and have control over their
future. They put their
faith in talismans, thinking for example, that their lucky rabbit’s
foot will directly address their innermost fears and anxieties - it
won’t! All the spiritual
power-tools of home Worship, Bestowing the Blessing, the Laying on of
Hands, Anointing with Oil, etc. are no illusion, and their power is
increased by invoking the Sacred Name of our CREATOR,
and ending it with the Sacred Name of the Messiah. For example: “By the power of
YAHWEH
. . ., . . . in Yahshuas’ Name we pray, amen.” To invoke the Sacred Names means to engage, or to put into action
the highest spiritual power that flows only from YAHWEH. It is a Believers way of engaging a superpower to complement the
gifts of the Covenant Rites, and then direct that power into active play
in their lives.
Words have power when they are released, and bestowing a blessing
is a sign of spiritual maturity. Some
blessings can be performed daily, and a special blessing service for a
baptism, wedding, anniversary, etc., requires some planning and is an
unforgettable family experience. There
aren’t too many books on the subject, the one used for research in
this section is written by William T. Ligon Sr. He is a Christian pastor and studied with a Jewish Rabbi, his
book is called "Imparting the Blessing to your Children" which is a
good resource for further study.
“Demons told me to kill,” says a teen accused of killing his
mother and gunning down two classmates. Today the list of headlines chronicling horrible crimes by
teenagers is mind-numbing. These
teens are not inner city ghetto-gangs, they come from the city and the
suburbs, from solid families as well as broken homes.
Some reasons stand out: [1] Abandonment, both mental and
physical, caused by parental preoccupation with everything but their
children. Authors William
Strauss and Neil Howe studies on the child rearing habits from the
1600’s to the present have produced four books on the subject, the
biggest problem is abandonment. [2]
Hypocritical parents, teachers, and community leaders, do not teach
children real, everlasting, absolute values. Hypocrisy is the biggest merry-go-around, it’s the ol’
liberal line, “Do not do as I do, but as I say!” Studies show most children grow up, doing as their elders do -
not as they say! [3] Beat
‘em into submission! Moral
teaching is lost when children are disciplined too harshly, then
resentment and rebellion begin to grow. And for those who would corrupt the innocent children . . ., you
haven’t got a prayer (Mat.18:1-10).
The secular world’s quick-fix feel-good approach to character
building, is bestowing an “affirmation and praise” just for “being,”
with heavy emphasis put on feelings of the self. The tide is slowly changing, today’s
headlines show,
feel-good slogans just ain’t workin’. The 1997 $25 million federal study known as the National
Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health, once again confirms what the
Bible has been teaching for thousands of years, that younger children
and older teens who are close and connected to loving parents stay out
of trouble and build more positive relationships. These powerful spiritual tools of home Worship are the key.
Guiding a child toward real accomplishment in today’s evil
world requires time, wisdom and patience. Nurturing mothers and fathers can exert powerful influences on
children when imparting a family blessing. They cancel the poor self-image children cling to and relay a
feeling of love and competency. Family blessings teach a sense of responsibility and enforce
self-esteem. Bestowing a
blessing every morning before the children go off to school will help
enforce the positive and cancel destructive behavior. Learning how to use a blessing during discipline can be a big
help to building a strong stable character in a child. Besides his book, Pastor Ligon has some teaching tapes available
for deeper study.
Planning a special blessing ceremony begins by working through
your feelings with prayer, reflection, and study of the Scriptures.
For home Worship, the general design of a blessing for events such
as baptisms, weddings, anniversaries, etc., is to consecrate for
righteousness. Other
blessings are designed for protection from evil. They might be used for discipline, as a source of encouragement
and character development, and can be given daily to break the curse of
failure. Remember, Yahshua
broke the curse of evil and there is no reason a Believer must live
under one.
To find some sample blessings begin by looking in your Bible’s
topical index or concordance, then follow your heart and your intuition.
For example: One can incorporate Psalm 1:1-3 into a personalized
blessing by changing the words “man, his and he” to the name of the
recipient of your blessing.
The mystical use of the Psalms has been used for thousands of
years in prayers and blessings for the physical welfare of the faithful.
For example, Ps.32 bestows grace, love and mercy. Ps.35 petitions for
GOD’S
intervention. Ps.29 casts
out evil spirits. Ps.40
delivers freedom from evil spirits. Ps.59 bring deliverance from enemies.
Ps.64,91,121 are for protection.
There are no guarantees, but if one is sincere with the higher
powers then applying the Biblical habit of giving regular blessings
establishes tender spiritual moments between loved ones. Attitudes change immediately, positively affecting every aspect
of family life.
Invoking a Blessing to Cancel a Curse
- "To be cursed by Satan,
- means to be truly
blessed."
Yahshua words, “bless them that curse you,” and “pray for them
which despitefully use you” (Luk.6:28), have been one of the least
understood concepts of the Scriptural lessons. The Apostles Paul and Peter continued teaching the same concept
of not to be overcome with evil, but overcome evil with good. But the theologians today do not really teach it, and
consequently the laity does not know how to use it. Blessings, cancel curses, it’s that simple.
Satan does all he can to keep this concept from the people,
because he does not like to have his curses cancelled.
There are many types of curses, an obvious one is the one when
humankind fell under the curse of sin with the fall of Adam and Eve in
the Garden of Eden. That
curse will be broken through the blessings of Abraham, and in the
crucifixion of the Messiah (Gal.3:10-13), giving every Believer
redemption in a new life in freedom from the curse of sin.
First and foremost, if you are grateful for the blessings that
you have received from YAHWEH and
honor them, then no one can take that blessing from you. And if someone curses you the simplest thing to do is just refuse
to accept delivery - just ignore their words. One can counter the curse with the simple response Yahshua used
when the world seemed to go against Him, “FATHER,
forgive them, for they know not what they do,” Luke 23:34.
Possession by evil spirits is serious business, they are strong,
perverse, wily and diabolical, their theater of operation is the human
spirit. Spiritual remedies
to rebuke demons are important to know. Every Believer wields the highest power in the Universe in
defense against the curse of evil spirits - you just have to know how to
tap into it. There are many
types of exorcism rites, the most common ones are performed at baptisms,
and to heal the sick. If a
Believer meets someone who is terrified and filled with an unworldly
fear, don’t call a psychiatrist, they haven’t got a clue - call on YAHWEH!
If you come across an unsettled spirit, be polite and control
your fear, start by saying hello. Politely
try and find out what its problem is, maybe it’s just an unsettled
spirit and you can help. If
it is a dark demon then be tough (don’t let ‘em see ya sweat), and
deliver - in a commanding voice - a simple blessing which goes something
like this: “In the Name of Yahshua the Messiah, by the power of YAHWEH
the FATHER; I command you to be
gone from this body, or my presence, or my sight, or my house, ye cursed
of YAHWEH." Follow up by reciting
Psalm 23 “the Good Shepherd.”
The more sly and devious type of curse that we experience on a
daily basis is called a "malediction." It can be more subtle and insidious then just the common insult.
They can be spoken daily by employers, friends, or we can even
say it to ourselves. For
example: Say you have been struggling with a new diet but haven’t had
much success, and seeing yourself in the mirror you say, “Ah, I’m
fat and ugly and I’ll never lose these extra pounds,” you have just
cursed yourself into failure.
Sometimes we speak curses to our loved ones.
For example: After trying to teach your child a new math problem
and the child just-simply-doesn’t-get-it, and in a moment of
frustration you say, “Ah, you’re stupid, you’ll never learn
math.” Even if you spoke
it in a light-hearted tone, it is still a curse dooming that specific
task to failure.
“Kindness is the oil that takes the friction out of life.” To speak with unjust criticism, anger, and bitterness (even in a
light-hearted fashion), is attempting to overcome darkness with darkness.
For the Believer, this is not the GODLY character YAHWEH wants us to
develop, we must learn to overcome evil with good. The Apostle James questions people who do this in 3:10-11,
“Out
of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these
things ought not to be so. Does
a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening?”
To be fair with the theologians, teaching the art of using a
blessing to cancel a curse in everyday life is one of the most difficult
Biblical concepts to teach. It is not really taught in the Bible, it only recommends
it’s use and gives some examples. Today, actively learning how to turn the day-to-day negative
thought into a positive, is called “effective speaking and human
relations.” It is the fine art of getting along with people in everyday
business and social contacts. In
America, the godfather of this topic is Dale Carnegie who wrote the book
How to Win Friends and Influence People.
It is secular, but not too far from the Scriptural examples of
curbing the natural impulse and developing a more educated mature
response to negative attitudes - for the price of a paperback it is a
great place to start to learn. It
is a training manual for the mind, to form new habits or a new way of
life, not to be quick to anger, and how to use the positive psychology
of language and personal grace to improve relations.
The examples run similar, Dale Carnegie takes a business man with
hundreds of employees who for years has driven his people by threats of
firing them, along with tongue-lashing criticism and condemnation
without discretion. The
lessons redirect his task master style into a philosophy of kindness,
using words of appreciation which inspire teamwork and loyalty, thereby
turning his employee-enemies into friends and productivity rises. His techniques have been documented.
It’s a win-win situation for everyone involved, happiness at
work even translates into happiness at home.
Begin with your daily prayers, make the conscience effort to
develop the habit of including a blessing of personal peace, to impart
new life, and build a GODLY
character of self-control and unselfish love for others.
